OBJECTIVE: To contribute to the development of the South Sudanese socio-health system, by training professionals in the rehabilitation sector
ORIGIN OF THE COMMITMENT: arises from a request received from the Diocese of Juba and the competent Ministries to train professionals in the socio-rehabilitation field. OVCI responded by engaging in this educational challenge to meet the needs of the many people with disabilities in the country
COMMITMENT DESCRIPTION: in 2008 the first school of Rehabilitation Sciences was built and set up, launched in March 2009 with the requalification of physiotherapist assistants already present on site. It was later opened to high school graduates. On 2 October 2014, St. Mary's College obtained recognition by Decree from the Ministry of the University. The first 19 physiotherapists graduated in November 2015, with them 11 primary school teachers, started in collaboration with the AVSI Foundation in 2011, also celebrated the graduation.
