SOUTH SUDAN - UNIVERSITY COMMITMENT
GOAL
Provide a new training opportunity, the first in the whole city of Juba, able to guarantee an in-depth study and a broad and adequate training for the incoming graduates, so that it will be possible to contribute to the change in South Sudan in a cooperative construction, through the capacity to address conflicts and restore peace dynamics.
BENEFICIARIES
- local community members reached by future university-trained workers.
- companies in which graduates will go to work, creating a dissemination of teaching and knowledge learned during the four years of university.
- There are more than 40 first-year university students who will benefit from the training offered by Saint Mary's College.
- South Sudan itself will benefit from this new degree course, not being present in any other faculty; it will be a new form of knowledge to be transmitted and shared.
MAIN ACTIVITIES
- Identification, training and development Academic resources
Identification and supervision of the university teaching staff.
Development of new handouts / publications adapted to the local South Sudanese reality - Promotion of the course
Realization and supervision of local events for the dissemination and advertising of the new course of studies via radio, newspapers, leaflets and mass media.
Implementation of student sponsorship mechanisms. - Initiation, monitoring and supervision of the degree course
Realization of three degree courses: Social Work and Social Administration; Human Development; Public Administration.
Realization of more than 2500 hours of theory in the three years of theoretical lessons
Realization of more than 60 hours of practical lessons in contact with beneficiaries
Monitoring of the course, the actual conduct of lessons, continuing teacher training and ongoing support.
Purchase of 200 university books to upgrade the College library and to expand the bibliography available to students
